Frequently asked questions
The standard rule is 2–4 sqft of coop interior plus 8–10 sqft of run per standard-sized hen. Bantams need less (about 2 sqft coop, 5 sqft run); Jersey Giants and Brahmas need more (5+ sqft coop, 12+ sqft run). Cold climates push the coop number up because birds spend more time inside during winter.
